CHANGES TO ADMINISTRATIVE APPEALS DIVISION

As a consequence of recent legislative changes by way of the Tasmanian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (Additional Jurisdictions) Act 2025, a number of reviewable decisions which fall under the Magistrates Court’s Administrative Appeals Division will transfer to the Tasmanian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (TASCAT).  These changes will take effect as of 1 July 2025 and a copy of the bill can be found  here .

Reviewable decisions pursuant to s36E of the Firearms Act 1996, and s20E of the Police Offences Act 1935 are not transferring to TASCAT as part of these reforms.

Correspondence has been sent by the Court to parties to relevant proceedings advising them of this decision.
