Information Sessions

A particular focus of coroners, coroners’ associates, and key staff of the Division has been educating legal professionals, medical professionals, and the community at large about coronial matters. The following upcoming presentations are scheduled.

Presentation to funeral home staff at all levels.

It will broadly cover the areas outlined below, and Chief Coroner McTaggart is happy to incorporate any suggested or specific topics – such as questions relating to the release of deceased persons – that you may have. If you have any proposed topics or suggestions, please include them with your RSVP by Wednesday, 12 March.

  • Functions of the Coroner: An overview of the coronial process and the legislative mandate of the Court.
  • Forensic Considerations: Key factors that determine what constitutes a reportable death and an outline of the death investigation process.
  • Recent Developments: Updates and insights into any new practices or procedures within the Court.

Please note this session is open to all funeral directors across the state. If you know of any non-AFDA funeral homes that may be interested in attending, please feel free to forward this invitation and advise them to RSVP according to the instructions below.
