The death of a partner, child, family member or friend can be a difficult and painful experience.
When a death is referred to the coroner, the investigation commences immediately. This means we will contact you in within a few days of the referral of the death to the coroner.
During the investigation that follows, we will work to minimise delays and extra processes providing you with support as requested and giving updates to the senior next of kin.
At the end of the investigation, we will provide you with a report of how the death occurred. Importantly, we will also seek to identify how similar deaths may be prevented.
The information contained within the banner 'Loved Ones' provides valuable information and guidance in relation to the process for families, the support services available and information around the senior next of kin.
