Chief Coroner Olivia McTaggart would like to provide you with an update in relation to the Hillcrest matter.
At the Case Management Conference on 28 August 2026, Coroner McTaggart made the following directions:
1. A further case management conference in this inquest will be held in Hobart at 10:00am on 16 September 2026 and via MS Teams (for interested parties and their legal representation).
2. By close of business Wednesday 2 September 2026, counsel for interested parties are to notify counsel assisting if they do not seek to actively participate in the four-day hearing block in September and which of their clients will attend the hearing block in person.
3. The inquest is listed to commence at 10.00 am on 21 September 2026 to be held in the court convened at the Paranaple Centre in Devonport.
The coronial inquest is scheduled to commence on 21 September 2026 and will be held on 21, 22, 23 and 25 September 2026 at the Paranaple Centre, Devonport, commencing at 10.00 am each day.
Members of the public wishing to observe may do so in person at the Paranaple Centre in Devonport.
