Chief Coroner Olivia McTaggart would like to provide you with an update in relation to the Hillcrest matter.
As provided by previous updates, the coroner has been prohibited from obtaining access to critical investigation documents until the conclusion of the proceedings on complaint 91520/2023 DPP v Rosemary Gamble trading as Tas- Zorb.
The appeal period in respect of this proceeding has now expired, with no appeal filed in respect of Mag Webster's decision Microsoft Word - Final DPP v Rosemary Gamble E tas TAZ-ZORB .docx
The Coroner is now in the process of obtaining the required documents for the coronial file. The Coroner is also finalising counsel assisting and associated arrangements, following the appointment of previous counsel assisting, Leigh Mackey SC as a magistrate.
Maree Norton SC has been formally appointed as counsel assisting and will commence reviewing the evidence for inquest over coming weeks. The coroner intends to resume the process leading to inquest by scheduling a case management conference at a date to be advised.
