Charges For Services

This policy sets out the charges for services provided by the Court to court users that are not covered by the statutory fees.

Audio:

Audio equipment is often used by the court to assist litigants and/or their legal representative to appear by telephone instead of in person.

The charges are:

$33 (Incl. GST) booking charge, plus normal Telstra rates.

Video Conferences:

Video equipment is often used by the court to assist litigants and/or their legal representative to appear by video instead of in person.

Other uses of Video are protected, special, intrastate and interstate, and overseas witnesses; defendants in custody appearing for return dates and bail applications. On occasions defendants in custody may appear by video from sentencing.

Video equipment is for private hire and for solicitors to take instructions.

The charges are:

$110.00 (Inc. GST) –plus call costs at normal Telstra rates.

Solicitor Interviews with Clients on Remand

Solicitors are now able to interview their client by video link when they are on remand at Risdon Prison, Ashley Detention Centre, Hobart Remand Centre.

Court and Conference Room Hire (with associated facilities):

A courtroom and associated rooms are available for hire. Hiring of these facilities should be approved by the Chief Magistrate to insure that the entity hiring the facilities is not in conflict with any court proceedings.

The charges are:

Courtroom:- $220.00 (Inc. GST) per day. (This includes the courtroom, associated chambers (office) and limited access to facilities such as Fax, phone, etc)

Security Guards may be available subject to availability and the charge is by negotiation.

If the courts digital recording equipment is required the cost is $50.00 per day, which will include a copy CD of proceedings.

Conference room:- $110.00 (Incl. GST) per day. This includes limited access to facilities such as Fax, phone, etc)

If a conference phone is required the charge is $33 (Incl. GST) booking fee, plus normal Telstra rates.

Security Hire:

Charge by negotiation.

Digital Recording:

Digital recording equipment cost is $50.00 per day, which will include a copy CD of proceedings.

Admin Support:

Charge is by negotiation.

Within 40-24 Hours - $55.00 (Incl. GST)

Audio equipment

No refund of booking fee.

Guard/s

Hourly rate minimum 3 hours per guard.
