No. 5 of 2005 - Civil Division - Registry Practices

Practitioners are advised that all applications made pursuant to the Magistrates Court (Civil Division) Rules 1998, for consent orders to adjourn matters from a Civil list must be received by the Registry at least 72 hours prior to the time set down for hearing/conciliation conference. There has been a significant increase in the number of applications to adjourn matters out of the Civil list with notice of 24 hours or less. This has put a heavy impost on the use of Court resources both in the registries’ and magistrates’ time. It is envisaged that this arrangement will enhance efficiency in the management of the applications through the Division.

Your cooperation with this new arrangement is much appreciated.
